Specialist Movements

Versatile movements of abnormal loads

Welch’s Transport enhanced its portfolio of services by the acquisition of MJA Specialist Movements in 2003. Its fleet includes access to heavy forklifts of up to 12 tonnes lifting capacity, versa lift 60/80 with a lift capacity of up to 44,800kg, Tri-Lifter (mobile crane/forklift/gantry) with a capacity of up to 92 tonnes, lorry-mounted cranes with a lift capacity of up to 14 tonnes, stair-climbers, and several low-loaders, including an extendable low-loader. All equipment is checked and certificated on a twice-yearly basis by an independent insurance company to ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.

Flexible, legally compliant service

We are regularly moving scientific equipment for Cambridge University, transporting machines, vehicles and containers of scientific equipment to be used in Antarctica for the British Antarctic Survey, and performing machine de-installation and re-installation for a number of clients both locally and in Europe. This service is complemented by a worldwide crating and export service for similar products, and all projects can be supported by full risk assessments and method statements where needed.
